Category:
Themes : Education, History & Territories, Reconciliation

Description

This module is part of the Complete Course (6 modules) — $249, lifetime access.

Devenir acteur de la réconciliation avec les Premiers Peuples (Becoming an actor in reconciliation with the First Peoples) questions the very notion of reconciliation by exploring the depth of the historical and socio-political issues involved. The aim is to better grasp the obstacles that need to be overcome in order to achieve effective reconciliation, and to identify the individual and collective gestures that will enable progress to be made on the road to reconciliation.

The course examines the elements that make it possible to identify systemic racism and the means of countering it. It highlights some of the systemic barriers faced by Aboriginal people in Canada, and presents current legislation and actions taken by the government and Aboriginal organizations to combat racism and discrimination against Aboriginal people.
