The General Introduction to Aboriginal Peoples course is a first foray into the Aboriginal world. It aims to familiarize participants with the different cultures and languages, and to provide them with a better understanding of the terminologies used to designate Aboriginal Peoples.

The course begins with a general presentation of the Aboriginal nations and language families of Eastern Canada, and ends with a discussion, from an Aboriginal point of view, of the most recommended terminological uses in relation to First Peoples in Canada. The course also addresses the various border issues faced by First Peoples, and presents some of the effects of sedentarization.
